Friends and Family Update: More than 9 in 10 patients continue to recommend us

In our latest batch of Friends and Family feedback, more than 9 in 10 patients say they would recommend us.

The NHS Friends and Family Test asks patients to score their most recent experience of using the health service.

In July and August, 447 people took the test. 411 rate the service they had received as good or very good.

Your feedback in 2024 has given recommendation rates between 87% and 95%.
This year’s average is 92.7%

Our average score for 2024 is 92.7%. The combined average from April 2020 – so including the pandemic, the increasing pressures on the NHS and mergers with Avenue and Gosforth Memorial – to date stands at 93.4%

What Patients said

We’ve had some great feedback over the last two months.

Lots of you enjoyed the ease and speed of using askmyGP. Many people were able to get quick resolutions, and others appreciated the chance to discuss their needs with a GP, Pharmacist or other clinicians over the phone or with messages.

One patient made use of being able to have a prescription sent to a Pharmacy close to where they were on holiday. Another patient who is deaf found using the website and exchanging messages much easier than struggling on the phone.

  • It was great to be able to get direct help from a doctor so quickly.

What else you told us

As ever, constructive feedback on where we can improve is always welcome. As is knowing when we have not met our own high standards.

We have had a few more comments about requests being closed before patients feel their issue has been resolved.

Request don’t time out; they are closed at the GP’s discretion. To ensure you get a timely response, please make sure:

  • Respond to messages as promptly as you are able
  • If you specify a time you would like to be contacted, please try to remain available during that time.
  • Don’t use existing exchanges or requests for new issues. askmyGP is intended for single use not ongoing conversations. Please send a new request, even if it relates to the same long-term health condition.

Finally, as we mentioned in our patient update on 5th September, remember that every time you contact us, your response is dealt with by a real person.

Whether you visit us in person, speak on the phone or send a message through ask my GP, we expect patients to be respectful and kind.
